Guidelines for Grades K-8
Can you believe that Friday, January 15, 2021 is the end of first semester? The week of January 18 is the one week mailing extension only. We strongly encourage you to mail all work by the 15th (or sooner) as it can take up to 5 business days to receive the work once it is mailed. Since the week of January 18 is a mailing extension only, this means that semester one on the student’s planner will close on January 15 and not be available after that date for review or completion of lessons. Students will not be able to submit assignments and assessments online after 10:00 pm on January 15. The teachers will not be accepting first semester work faxed or emailed in after 3:15 pm on January 15.
Failure to turn in the work by the end of the semester will result in final zeros being averaged into the grades in the grade book. These grades will then be reflected on the report card.
If your student is behind, the WCA staff encourages you to use Winter Break to catch up.
Guidelines for Grades 9-12
Exam Schedule: Most final exams are scheduled during the week of January 11th. Depending upon your courses, you may have multiple exams on a particular day. If you would like to spread those out, you could work ahead in a few courses and take some exams early. All final exams need to be completed by 10:00 pm on Friday, January 15.
Teachers will not accept portfolio assignments or assessments after 10:00 pm on January 15. Failure to turn in the work by the end of the semester will result in final zeros being averaged into the grades in the grade book. These grades will then be reflected on the report card.
If your student is behind, the WCA staff encourages you to use Winter Break to catch up.
Virtual Classes: High school teachers will not be presenting new material in their virtual classes during final exams week (January 11-15). Therefore, virtual class attendance is not required during the week of January 11-15. (This applies only to high school students.) However, the teachers will be available in their virtual classrooms to answer any questions. Students can log-in during a teacher’s regularly scheduled virtual class time to ask questions. For example, if a student has a question for Ms. Peachy, they can log-in at any of Ms. Peachy's class times. It does not have to be on the exact day and time that the student's class normally meets.
