December: Meet the Staff

Mrs. Johnston

My name is Mrs. Johnston, and I am very pleased to be your 7-8th grade language arts teacher!  I am excited to work with my families throughout the year to provide support, encouragement, and feedback for you to do your best work and to reach successful course completion.

I have served as an online teacher at Wisconsin Connections Academy for six years, and I was a classroom teacher for 15 years in a variety of settings.  We have lived in several states, but in 2015 moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to family. We are huge Packer and Brewer fans! I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of WI @ Oshkosh and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Catherine University Minneapolis / St. Paul. In my free time, I enjoy running, reading, going to the lake, and spending time with my husband of 19 years.  We have been blessed with three kids ages 15 (girl-sophomore),13 (boy-8th), and 11 (boy-5th).  I can’t wait to meet you; it's going to be a great school year!

Ms. Noto

Ms. Noto is the ninth and eleventh grade teacher at Wisconsin Connections Academy (WCA).  As a recent graduate from University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, she is delighted to begin her teaching career with WCA.  After all, WCA resonates with the roots of her personal educational journey; to earn her high school diploma, Ms. Noto graduated from a virtual school program. Through her experience as an online high school learner, she thrived from individualized instruction and developed self-sufficiency and organizational skills that fostered her success as a college student.  Now an online, herself, she aims to provide students with similar support, so that they can prevail on their own academic journey of growth and learning.  In Ms. Noto’s free time, she likes to perfect her ricotta cheesecake recipe and play with her pet parakeets.

Mrs. Kramer

Lisa Kramer is our 6th grade language arts teacher. Lisa earned her degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and holds a Master's degree is in reading/language arts grades 1-6. This is Lisa's twelfth year teaching at WCA. She teaches half time and has a yoga / life coaching business for the other half of her day. Lisa enjoys teaching virtually as it allows students from all over the state to connect, engage and learn moving at the pace that works best for individual needs and differences.

Lisa is married with four grown children. They are millennials and inspire her every day! Lisa recently welcomed a new puppy, Sophie, into her home. Lisa looks forward to the school year ahead!
